Visit Shreveport-Bossier partners with state and Travel South USA as global culinary authority sets sights on the South
Shreveport-Bossier, LA – A new wave of culinary recognition may be on the horizon for Northwest Louisiana. The internationally renowned MICHELIN Guide is bringing its prestigious star ratings to the American South for the first time, and Shreveport-Bossier is proudly part of the conversation.
In a major announcement, MICHELIN and Travel South USA revealed the launch of the MICHELIN Guide American South, a regional edition that will highlight the culinary excellence of six southern states: Louisiana, Alabama, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee. This move expands MICHELIN’s geographic footprint in the U.S., moving beyond urban culinary capitals to showcase the rich and diverse food culture that defines the South.
Visit Shreveport-Bossier, in collaboration with Louisiana Office of Tourism, is a supporting partner in this groundbreaking initiative.
“Restaurants across Louisiana, including those in Shreveport and Bossier City, are under consideration for this prized recognition,” said Stacy Brown, President and CEO of Visit Shreveport-Bossier. “While there is no guarantee any of our restaurants will receive MICHELIN recognition, we believe the culinary scene in Shreveport-Bossier is worthy of consideration. We are proud to partner with our state and Travel South USA on this initiative and look forward to aligning with one of the most respected travel brands in the world.”
A Seat at the Table
With MICHELIN inspectors already traveling the region incognito, making reservations and experiencing restaurants firsthand, the eyes of the culinary world are officially on the South. The 2025 MICHELIN Guide American South will mark the first time an entire region of the U.S. has been considered under a single edition, recognizing restaurants not only in major cities but in emerging culinary markets and smaller communities.
For Shreveport-Bossier, the opportunity goes beyond food. This partnership represents an important branding moment for the region—positioning local restaurants, chefs, and the broader tourism industry on a global stage.
“MICHELIN is known for celebrating authenticity and innovation in dining,” said Brown. “Those qualities define many of our restaurants here. Whether it’s our homegrown Southern cuisine, our blend of Creole, Cajun, and Texas flavors, or our growing list of fusion and international offerings, we believe our culinary identity is both distinct and deserving of recognition.”
Economic Impact & Regional Branding
According to travel experts, MICHELIN-star recognition can be transformative for a region. Restaurants that receive even a single MICHELIN star often experience a significant boost in tourism, reservations, and national attention. Even being listed in the MICHELIN Guide (without a star) can elevate a restaurant’s reputation and economic impact.
For Shreveport-Bossier, inclusion in the MICHELIN Guide could mean:
- Increased culinary tourism and overnight stays
- National and international media exposure
- Support for local chefs, restaurants, and hospitality professionals
- Greater demand for food festivals and dining experiences
The MICHELIN Guide Ceremony, where the official selections will be announced, is set to take place later this year. Until then, local chefs, restaurateurs, and food lovers will be watching closely—and hoping that a MICHELIN star may soon shine over Shreveport-Bossier.
