NATCHITOCHES, La. — Northwestern State University’s Department of Engineering Technology will offer two free workforce development workshops in October focused on statistical quality control and project management.
The workshops, supported by Weyerhaeuser and NSU’s Department of Engineering Technology, are open to participants with at least a high school diploma. Lunch will be provided.
A Statistical Quality Control workshop will be held from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 2-3 and will be led by Dr. Nabin Sapkota. The training will cover quality principles, process variation, control charts and process capability, with an emphasis on applying the tools to real-world problems.
A second workshop, Managing Projects: Structure That Still Flexes, will be held from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 8-9. Instructor Craig Caskey will focus on applying process-improvement concepts to project management from initiation through completion.
The project management workshop is intended for participants who have experience with Kaizen events and plan-do-check-act cycles. Training will cover planning tools, control methods and ways to incorporate adjustment cycles into project execution. Participants may attend both days or attend the second day if they already have an established project process.
There is no cost to participate in either workshop. Registration is available through Northwestern State University.
