BOSSIER CITY, La. — The Bossier Main Post Office will host a passport fair Saturday, Sept. 12, offering walk-in service for residents applying for passports.
The event will be held from 8 a.m. to noon at the Bossier Main Post Office, 150 Benton Road. Appointments are not required, although customers may schedule one in advance through the U.S. Postal Service.
Adult applicants age 16 and older pay a $130 application fee to the U.S. Department of State and a separate $35 acceptance fee to the Postal Service. For applicants under 16, the State Department fee is $100, along with the $35 Postal Service acceptance fee. Passport photos will be available on site for $15.
Applicants must provide proof of U.S. citizenship, such as a certified birth certificate, previous U.S. passport, certificate of citizenship or naturalization certificate. Hospital-issued birth certificates alone are not accepted.
Applicants also must provide identification, which can include a valid driver’s license, government or military photo identification, previous passport, naturalization certificate or certificate of citizenship.
All applicants, including minors, must appear in person. Applicants under 16 must appear with both parents. If one parent cannot attend, a notarized authorization from the absent parent is required.
Passport applications can be downloaded in advance from the U.S. Department of State’s travel website.
