SHREVEPORT, La. — Average gasoline prices in Shreveport fell 4.9 cents over the past week to $3.65 per gallon Monday, according to GasBuddy’s survey of 177 stations.
The local average was 29.5 cents lower than a month ago but remained about $1.24 higher than a year earlier, GasBuddy reported.
Prices reported Sunday ranged from $3.39 to $4.09 per gallon in Shreveport, a spread of 70 cents. Statewide, reported prices ranged from $3.29 to $4.69.
Louisiana’s average fell 8.4 cents over the week to $3.73 per gallon. In neighboring markets, Little Rock’s average declined 6.9 cents to $3.75, while Dallas rose 1.8 cents to $3.60.
The national gasoline average held steady at $4.24 per gallon, putting Shreveport’s average 59 cents below the national figure. National prices were down 22.3 cents from a month earlier but remained $1.24 above year-ago levels.
Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy, said gasoline prices declined in most states, although a refinery issue caused a price spike in the Great Lakes region that nearly offset declines elsewhere. That disruption was beginning to ease, he said.
Meanwhile, the national average price of diesel increased 4 cents over the week to $6.34 per gallon.
GasBuddy compiles its national figures from more than 11 million weekly price reports covering over 150,000 stations.
