SHREVEPORT, La. — United Airlines launched daily nonstop service between Shreveport Regional Airport and Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport on Sunday, Oct. 25, expanding connections for Northwest Louisiana business and leisure travelers.
The year-round route restores nonstop service between Shreveport and Chicago for the first time in more than 18 years, according to the Shreveport Airport Authority. Chicago becomes the airport’s 10th nonstop destination and United’s third destination from Shreveport, joining Denver and Houston.
Through United’s O’Hare hub, passengers can connect to more than 220 destinations, including 47 international cities, airport officials said.
The route received support from the Ark-La-Tex Regional Air Service Alliance, whose funding has helped secure six new routes from Shreveport. The release did not disclose the amount or terms of financial support for the Chicago service.
“Improving air service is essential to supporting our business community, attracting visitors, and making it easier for residents to reach important destinations,” said Larry Blackwell Jr., director of airports for the Shreveport Airport Authority.
Shreveport Regional is served by Allegiant, American Airlines, Delta Air Lines and United. Tickets for the Chicago route are available through United.
