RUSTON, LA – Louisiana Tech University’s seventh annual Giving Day proved to be another resounding success, with more than $1.46 million raised in a single day of philanthropy and celebration. Held on March 18, the 2025 Giving Day brought together more than 780 donors—including students, alumni, faculty and staff, parents, corporate partners, and friends of the University—all united in their mission to invest in the future of Louisiana Tech.
Themed “Unleashing Our Potential,” this year’s Giving Day underscored the transformative power of collective generosity and the growing momentum behind the University’s mission to provide top-tier education, leadership development, and community impact.
“Our Tech Family has shown once again the power of generosity and enduring loyalty on Giving Day,” said William Dearmon, Louisiana Tech’s Chief Development Officer. “The sustained philanthropic support of our donors empowers us to continue advancing the University’s strategic goals, and every contribution — no matter the amount — directly impacts our students, faculty, staff, and community.”
Donations ranged from as little as $5 to six-figure commitments, with some gifts triggering match challenges and special funding initiatives. Highlights included significant contributions toward the Coaches Legacy Plaza and a gift honoring former Louisiana Tech President Dr. R. L. Ropp that will be used to enhance campus beautification and student spaces.
The annual Giving Day serves not only as a fundraising initiative but also as a celebration of community and commitment. Throughout the day, the University’s social media channels and the Giving Day website were abuzz with stories of alumni pride, student gratitude, and live progress toward the $1 million goal—ultimately surpassed by nearly 50%.
Dr. Heath Tims, CEO of the Louisiana Tech Alumni Association, emphasized the deeper impact beyond the dollars.
“We are always appreciative of the support received from our ever-loyal alumni and friends,” said Dr. Tims. “Financial support is one of the ways that our alumni are contributing and making an impact. Through mentorship, service, advocacy, and engagement, our alumni strengthen the University and shape the future of Tech for generations to come.”
Corporate support also played a vital role in this year’s success, continuing a tradition of business partnerships that fund scholarships, research, and innovation hubs. As a result, Louisiana Tech remains a key player in workforce development across North Louisiana and beyond, serving as a talent pipeline and thought leader for industries ranging from cybersecurity to biomedical engineering.
