WASHINGTON — U.S. House Speaker Mike Johnson has submitted a letter to the 2026 Bossier Community Time Capsule, an initiative tied to local America 250 efforts that will remain sealed until the nation’s tricentennial in 2076.
The time capsule project is sponsored by Keep Bossier Beautiful in partnership with the Bossier Parish Police Jury and Keep America Beautiful. It is part of broader commemorations marking the 250th anniversary of the United States.
In his letter, Johnson, who represents Louisiana’s 4th Congressional District, reflected on his path to Congress and his tenure as speaker, as well as national milestones and challenges facing the country. He also outlined themes related to the nation’s founding principles and future direction.
“As our nation marks this momentous anniversary, we face questions about the very nature of our Republic,” Johnson wrote. “How to preserve our God-given rights against government intrusion? How best to champion individual liberty?”
Johnson’s letter also referenced recent events and developments, including international engagements, space exploration milestones and national celebrations tied to the semiquincentennial. The correspondence is intended as a message to future generations who will open the time capsule in 2076.
The Bossier Community Time Capsule is part of local efforts to document life in the parish and engage residents in commemorating the nation’s anniversary, with contributions from public officials, organizations and community members.
