SHREVEPORT, La. — Downtown Shreveport will serve as the launch site for the city’s National Night Out celebration on Oct. 7, with an opening ceremony scheduled for 4:30 p.m.
City officials, neighborhood groups and residents will gather downtown to begin the annual event, which focuses on community partnerships and neighborhood safety.
Following the kick-off, the 700 block of Texas Street will host “Neon Nights on Texas Street,” a street festival modeled after the 1990s downtown event Neon Saturday Night. The block party will feature live music by Krystal “Chica” Montez, interactive art demonstrations, food vendors, children’s activities and community resource booths.
“National Night Out is about more than just a block party — it’s a celebration of community, connection and the people who make our city shine,” said Downtown Development Authority Director Cedric B. Glover.
The event will highlight downtown businesses and organizations while offering family-oriented entertainment and activities. Admission is free and open to the public.
