BATON ROUGE, La. — Keep Louisiana Beautiful named the City of Shreveport and its Block by Block program as the 2025 Community Improvement Award winner, one of several honors presented at the organization’s annual Everyday Hero Awards. The ceremony takes place Wednesday during the state conference luncheon at the Crowne Plaza Executive Center in Baton Rouge.
The Everyday Hero Awards recognize individuals, businesses, and organizations for contributions to litter prevention and community beautification. Other honorees this year include Rep. John Illg Jr., Infiniti of Baton Rouge, the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries, and Keep Calcasieu Beautiful.
Lieutenant Governor Billy Nungesser said the winners set an example for communities statewide. “Their leadership and determination are helping build a cleaner, greener Louisiana, and their example challenges all of us to take greater pride in the places we call home,” Nungesser said.
Keep Louisiana Beautiful Executive Director Susan Russell said the awardees reflect strong community spirit. “Through their work, the 2025 Everyday Hero Award recipients demonstrate model citizenship,” Russell said.
The event will feature Jennifer Lawson, president and CEO of Keep America Beautiful, as keynote speaker, and Brian Melancon of Pennington Biomedical Research Center as master of ceremonies. KLB will also honor the late First Lady Alice Foster, who helped establish the statewide organization in 2000.
