BENTON, La. — The Bossier Parish Police Jury approved nearly $1.6 million in state-supported funding for park and road improvements during its Sept. 2 regular meeting.
Jurors approved four Cooperative Endeavor Agreements that provide $1.19 million for improvements at Kingston Park and Parish Camp at Lake Bistineau and $400,000 for a road project involving U.S. Highway 71 and Colleen Drive.
At Parish Camp at Lake Bistineau, a portion of the funding will be used to repair piers and improve infrastructure. The work will coincide with the camp’s ongoing $1.4 million RV park development project.
Additional funding will support recreation and other improvements at Kingston Park.
The Police Jury also approved a $400,000 agreement for the U.S. Highway 71 Four-Lane Extension and Colleen Drive Improvements project. The money will support planning, development and construction as the parish seeks to improve transportation connections and prepare the area for future growth.
“These projects are all about making Bossier Parish a better place for the people who live, work, and spend time here,” Police Jury President Tom Salzer said. “Whether it’s improving our parks, investing in recreation, or planning for better roads, this funding helps us take care of important needs across the parish.”
The Cooperative Endeavor Agreements are partnerships among the Bossier Parish Police Jury, the state of Louisiana and the Louisiana Department of the Treasury. The agreements allow state funding to be used for local public projects.
Approval of the agreements allows the parish to move forward with the park and transportation projects.
