Nominations Open for the Virginia K. Shehee Most Influential Woman and Young Woman Awards

SHREVEPORT, La. — The 8th Annual Virginia K. Shehee Most Influential Woman and Young Woman Awards are set to make a return on Thursday, March 7, 2024, from 11:30 a.m.–1:00 p.m. at East Ridge Country Club. Sponsored by The Shreveport Times and Red River Bank, the event celebrates women making significant contributions to the community through their expertise, time, and resources.

Nominations for the Virginia K. Shehee Most Influential Woman and Most Influential Young Woman Awards are now open until Wednesday, January 24, 2024. This prestigious award, named after the late civic leader and philanthropist Virginia K. Shehee, aims to honor women who often work behind the scenes but have made noteworthy contributions to Northwest Louisiana.

The awards will recognize twelve women in two categories: six for the Most Influential Woman Award and six for the Most Influential Young Woman Award. One outstanding individual from each category will be acknowledged as the Most Influential Woman and Most Influential Young Woman for 2024.

Virginia K. Shehee Most Influential Woman Award: Recipients of this award must showcase commitment to philanthropy, aiding children, the elderly, those in need, the arts, business development, education, or other charitable acts through unpaid positions. Nominees should demonstrate influence and leadership in their business or organization, possess a positive reputation based on experience, leadership, and integrity, and exhibit significant professional and/or community accomplishments. Nominees are ineligible if they hold a paid position with a nonprofit organization or receive payment for services rendered.

Virginia K. Shehee Most Influential Young Woman Award: This category will recognize a high school junior or senior demonstrating leadership, influence, poise, and determination through meaningful acts of philanthropy and community betterment. Nominees must be high school juniors or seniors in Caddo, Bossier, or DeSoto Parish, demonstrating influence and leadership in their school and/or community, and possessing a positive reputation based on experience, leadership, and integrity. Nominees should also showcase significant education and/or community accomplishments and a commitment to philanthropy through unpaid positions.

Support for the event can be extended through individual tickets priced at $75 or table sponsorships at $1,000. Table sponsorships include luncheon tickets for eight and recognition in the event program, on social media, and on the Holy Angels website. Table sponsorships and individual tickets will be available for purchase mid-January at this link.

Now in its eighth year, this Northwest Louisiana honor will direct proceeds to benefit Holy Angels, an independent nonprofit organization serving over 200 individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
