Downtown Shreveport Artwalk continues the Fourth of July celebrations

by BIZ Magazine

The first week in July is special for several reasons…Independence Day picnics, fireworks, the Bakowski Bridge ‘glo’, and the Downtown Shreveport Artwalk! On Wednesday, July 5, 5-8 pm, buildings, shops, and restaurants along Texas Street will open their doors and hang out the ‘welcome’ sign to artwalkers. More than twenty pop-up artists will have a variety of wares set up at stops along the way. Restaurants, bakeries, and coffee shops will feature food and beverage specials and extended hours, there will be exhibits and events at artspace, Southern University Shreveport Museum of Art, and The Noble Savage, and live music at Pop N’ Pizza and The Noble Savage.

Come downtown to experience the amazing cupcakes at Ashley’s Tiers of Love, downtown’s newest ‘sweet spot.’ Grab a slice at Pop n’ Pizza, get 20% off your beverage at Rhino Coffee, dive into extended Happy Hour food and beverage specials at PepitoXO at artspace and Abby Singer’s Bistro at Robinson Film Center.

Walk through the wonderful Critical Mass 11 exhibit at Artspace and hear from their recent literary arts winners. Artists James Marks & Jarrick Thomas will also be presenting Petcha Kucha slide presentations (a storytelling format involving slides of their work). See (and hear) the works of ML Dumars, Debra Roberson and Kalandra Jones at Southern University’s Metro Campus Museum of Art and linger over the music of Q Major the Violinist at Pop N’ Pizza.
