SHREVEPORT, La. — Average gasoline prices in Shreveport declined 7.6 cents per gallon over the past week, reaching an average of $3.83 per gallon, according to a GasBuddy survey of 177 stations in the area.
Despite the weekly decline, prices remain 23.2 cents higher than a month ago and $1.21 higher than the same period last year.
GasBuddy reported the lowest-priced station in Shreveport was selling gasoline for $3.61 per gallon Sunday, while the highest price reached $4.29 per gallon. Statewide, prices ranged from $3.57 to $4.99 per gallon.
Nationally, the average gasoline price fell 1 cent over the past week to $4.47 per gallon. The national average is up 45.2 cents from a month ago and $1.33 higher than one year ago. The national average diesel price declined by half a cent to $5.618 per gallon.
Regional fuel prices showed mixed movement. Average prices in Little Rock increased 6 cents to $4.05 per gallon, while Dallas prices fell 17.4 cents to $3.86 per gallon. Louisiana’s statewide average declined 2.3 cents to $3.95 per gallon.
Historical data from GasBuddy showed Shreveport gasoline prices averaged $2.62 per gallon on May 18, 2025; $2.95 in 2024; $2.99 in 2023; $4.19 in 2022; and $2.74 in 2021.
Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy, said fuel markets continue to react to geopolitical developments and fluctuations in oil supply expectations.
“The national average price of gasoline spent much of last week drifting lower after jumping early in the week as oil prices softened on hopes that diplomatic progress between the U.S. and Iran could help ease supply concerns,” De Haan said.
He added that renewed geopolitical tensions and historically tight global oil inventories could contribute to continued volatility in gasoline and diesel prices ahead of the Memorial Day holiday travel period.
