BENTON, La. The Bossier Parish Police Jury approved a construction contract for a water infrastructure project and took action on several properties deemed health and safety concerns during its regular meeting.
Jurors approved a bid from Axis Construction for Phase Two of the Dogwood North Pump House project. The work, which is partially funded through a Community Water Enrichment Fund grant, includes equipment transitions and upgrades to the existing piping system.
The Police Jury also approved recommendations from the Property Standards Board of Review involving five properties that officials said continue to present health and safety concerns. According to the parish, the property owners had made no significant progress in correcting the cited violations.
During departmental reports, the Highway Department updated jurors on road repairs, drainage work and routine maintenance projects underway in multiple districts. The department also reported on ongoing mosquito spraying operations and outlined plans for additional roadwork in the coming weeks.
The parish Engineering Department provided updates on several capital projects, including the bidding process for the Lucky Estates project, drainage improvements, roadway overlay work and planned road striping intended to improve safety and visibility.
Police Jury President Tom Salzer said the projects reflect the parish’s continued investment in infrastructure and community improvements.
“These projects demonstrate the steady growth and progress taking place across our parish,” Salzer said. “We are committed to improving our infrastructure, addressing community needs, and making strategic investments that will benefit residents of Bossier for years to come.”
