SHREVEPORT, La. — A coalition of downtown organizations and community partners announced a $51,000 investment to expand public safety technology in Downtown Shreveport through the Anglin/Myers Public Safety program.
The Downtown Development Authority, Downtown Shreveport Development Corporation and Shreveport Common jointly committed the funding to support additional Real Time Crime Cameras and License Plate Readers across the downtown district.
The Anglin/Myers Public Safety program is administered by the Louisiana Law Enforcement & Criminal Justice Foundation and supports law enforcement efforts through technology intended to improve situational awareness, response times and crime prevention.
The initiative honors the memory of Landry Anglin and Devin Myers, who were killed in separate shootings in 2022. The program was developed in partnership with Caddo Parish Sheriff Henry Whitehorn Sr. and Shreveport Police Chief Wayne Smith.
Officials said the funding will support expanded deployment of cameras and license plate readers in strategic downtown corridors. Existing technology in the district has already contributed to a decline in calls for service compared with previous years, according to project leaders.
The investment follows a March 5, 2026, downtown infrastructure and public safety assessment coordinated by the Downtown Development Authority and Real Time Crime Center Manager Kevin Thomas. The review evaluated the downtown camera network connected to the Shreveport Real Time Crime Center and identified opportunities to improve coverage and operational coordination.
Representatives from the Shreveport Real Time Crime Center, Shreveport Police Department, Shreveport Public Works, Shreveport Parks and Recreation and SWEPCO participated in the assessment.

Glover, executive director of the Downtown Development Authority. “This investment represents an important step forward in our broader efforts to enhance public safety, strengthen quality of life, and support the continued growth of Downtown Shreveport.”
The Downtown Development Authority said the investment is part of a broader long-term strategy focused on modernizing downtown infrastructure, supporting economic development and improving public safety throughout the district.
