SHREVEPORT, La. — Defense, government, academic and industry leaders are expected to gather in Shreveport next year for the annual Nuclear Triad Symposium, a conference focused on strategic deterrence, national security and the future of the nation’s nuclear forces.
The event, hosted by Peter Huessy of the National Institute for Deterrence Studies in collaboration with Louisiana State University Shreveport and BRF Defense, is scheduled for June 18, 2026, at LSU Shreveport. Organizers said the symposium will run from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., followed by a networking reception hosted by the Shreveport-Bossier Committee of 100 and the LSU Shreveport Alumni Association.
According to organizers, the symposium will bring together leaders from industry, academia and government to discuss challenges and opportunities related to Air Force Global Strike Command missions, including deterrence, strategic competition, readiness and combat operations.
Organizers said discussions at the 2025 symposium highlighted concerns about U.S. and allied production capacity relative to geopolitical competitors, as well as an increasingly complex regional missile threat environment.
A featured session at the 2026 event will focus on force design and is intended to provide government, military and industry participants with an opportunity to examine deterrence strategies and identify areas where operational, technological or policy changes may be needed.
Lt. Gen. Robert J. Elder Jr., retired, is among those expected to participate in the event.
Registration is also open for the Industry-Government Collaboration Workshop, scheduled for June 17, 2026, at LSU Shreveport. The workshop will include discussions between government and defense industry representatives and conclude with a networking reception at BRF InterTech Park.
Organizers encouraged National Defense Industrial Association members and others interested in supporting Air Force Global Strike Command missions to participate in the workshop and symposium. Seating for both events is limited, according to event organizers.
