$7.9 million U.S. 71 rehabilitation project to begin in south Bossier
BOSSIER PARISH, La. — A $7.9 million rehabilitation project along U.S. 71, or Barksdale Boulevard, in south Bossier Parish is scheduled to begin the week of Sept. 28.
The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development project extends from Shreveport-Barksdale Highway, or LA 3032, to Sligo Road, or LA 612.
Work will include full-depth repairs to strengthen the roadway base, milling of existing asphalt, new asphalt paving on the northbound side, concrete panel replacements on the southbound side and new roadway striping.
DOTD records identify Benton & Brown LLC as the contractor, with a bid of approximately $7.92 million.
Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures, particularly during full-depth patching, milling and paving operations.
The project is expected to be completed in early 2027, depending on weather and other construction factors.
Funding was allocated by the Louisiana Legislature through the Louisiana Transportation Infrastructure Fund, or LTIF 2.0.
The project continues work along the Barksdale Boulevard corridor. The portion of U.S. 71 between Shreveport-Barksdale Highway and Interstate 20 received a new asphalt overlay in 2022.
Shreveport seeks bids for Montana Street Bridge Improvements
SHREVEPORT, La. — The City of Shreveport is soliciting bids for improvements to the Montana Street Bridge.
The city’s Invitation for Bid 26-053 carries a designer’s estimate of approximately $257,700 and is classified as highway, street and bridge construction.
A non-mandatory pre-bid meeting is scheduled for Oct. 7, with bids due Oct. 22.
The project is among a series of street and bridge improvements being pursued by the city as Shreveport continues infrastructure work across its transportation network.
Additional details about the Montana Street project are expected through the city’s procurement process.
