The highly anticipated return of Artport 16: In Southern Dimension has been set for Thursday, June 5, 2025, marking the grand opening of a public art exhibition at Shreveport Regional Airport. Organized by KSM Marketing Agency, this free event will showcase original works from more than 80 local and regional artists, celebrating the cultural and historical richness of the Shreveport-Bossier community.
The Opening Night Event will offer attendees a first look at the exhibition before its official installation in the airport. Guests can expect a silent auction benefiting Volunteers for Youth Justice, live entertainment by Windstorm, and a curated collection of artwork that reflects the region’s deep-rooted traditions, music, sports, landmarks, and landscapes.
“The response to Artport’s return has been overwhelming—especially considering how long it has been since the last installation,” said Abigail Simmons, Artport Director. “The enthusiasm from our local artists and community reaffirmed just how much this city values its creative talent. It has truly been an all-hands-on-deck effort to bring this installation to life.”
This year’s theme, “In Southern Dimension,” will be brought to life through an expanded range of artistic expressions, including sculpture, digital art, murals, and large-format paintings. The pieces will be installed throughout the airport, transforming its corridors into a gallery space that welcomes travelers with a visual celebration of the Louisiana Hayride legacy, Barksdale Air Force Base, local festivals, and the broader artistic identity of the region.
“On Opening Night, before the artwork finds its home behind the checkpoints, the community has the chance to see it up close, bid on outstanding pieces, and most importantly, celebrate the incredible talent we have right here in Shreveport,” added Simmons.
