SHREVEPORT, La. — LSU Health Shreveport recently hosted Louisiana State University System President Dr. Wade Rousse and LSU Executive Vice President and Flagship A&M Chancellor Dr. James Dalton for their first official visit to the Shreveport health sciences center campus.
The visit followed a recent leadership realignment within the LSU System that places LSU Health Shreveport, LSU Health New Orleans, the Pennington Biomedical Research Center and the LSU AgCenter under Dalton’s direct supervision. The restructuring is intended to strengthen coordination across the system and elevate LSU’s research enterprise as a unified flagship campus.
During the visit, Dalton met with campus leadership, faculty, staff, donors and North Louisiana legislators to discuss LSU Health Shreveport’s priorities, opportunities and challenges, as well as its role in advancing health care education and biomedical research across the state.
Rousse and Dalton also addressed faculty and staff during an open discussion held in the Rasberry Auditorium in the Center for Medical Education Building.
Meetings with local legislators and community leaders were included as part of the visit, focusing on LSU Health Shreveport’s role in health care delivery, medical and scientific training, economic development and research innovation in North Louisiana.
While in the region, LSU System leadership also visited the LSU-Shreveport campus.
