SHREVEPORT, La. — Average gasoline prices in Shreveport fell 10.1 cents per gallon over the past week, reaching $2.51 per gallon on Monday, according to a survey of 177 stations by GasBuddy.
Prices in Shreveport are 18.9 cents lower than a month ago and 4.4 cents lower than a year ago. The lowest reported price in the city Sunday was $2.39 per gallon, while the highest was $2.89, a spread of 50 cents. Across Louisiana, prices ranged from $2.32 to $3.39 per gallon.
The national average price of gasoline fell 5.8 cents per gallon last week, now averaging $3.08. That average is down 11.1 cents from a month ago and 9 cents from a year earlier, GasBuddy reported. The national average diesel price declined 1.3 cents to $3.65 per gallon.
In neighboring markets, Little Rock drivers are paying an average of $2.67 per gallon, down 7.7 cents from last week. Dallas prices dropped 16.4 cents to $2.59, while the Louisiana state average fell 4.2 cents to $2.66.
Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy, said seasonal factors are driving the declines. “Gas prices have seen a notable weekly drop in most states as seasonal factors ramp up their impact—namely the switch to cheaper winter gasoline and falling gasoline demand,” he said.
Historical data show Shreveport prices averaged $2.56 per gallon a year ago and $3.16 in 2023. The lowest price in the past decade was $1.83 in 2020, while the highest was $3.16 in 2023.
