SHREVEPORT, La. — Average gasoline prices in Shreveport fell 7.3 cents per gallon over the past week to $3.44 per gallon, according to a GasBuddy survey of 177 stations in the city.
Despite the weekly decline, prices remain 5.7 cents higher than a month ago and 77.7 cents above the level recorded a year ago.
The lowest reported price in Shreveport was $3.14 per gallon, while the highest was $3.89 per gallon, a spread of 75 cents. Across Louisiana, prices ranged from $2.98 to $4.99 per gallon.
Nationally, the average gasoline price fell 10.7 cents over the past week to $3.94 per gallon. The national average is 9.5 cents higher than a month ago and 85.6 cents above the level recorded a year ago. The national average diesel price declined 5.1 cents during the week to $5.275 per gallon.
Among neighboring markets, average gasoline prices fell 7.9 cents in Little Rock to $3.59 per gallon and dropped 9.8 cents statewide in Louisiana to $3.52 per gallon. Dallas was the exception, with prices rising 8 cents to $3.58 per gallon.
“Average gasoline prices declined in 47 states over the last week while diesel fell in 39, with the national average price of gasoline posting a double-digit drop per gallon,” said Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy.
He said diesel prices have declined more slowly because of continued pressure on refined product markets tied to Ukrainian attacks on Russian oil refineries. De Haan added that uncertainty surrounding the Strait of Hormuz has pushed oil prices modestly higher, warning that fuel prices could increase if disruptions continue.
Historical data from GasBuddy shows Shreveport’s average gasoline price was $2.66 per gallon one year ago, compared with $3.44 per gallon currently.
GasBuddy compiles its fuel price data from more than 11 million weekly price reports covering more than 150,000 gas stations across the United States.
