For the first time in nearly 25 years, Shreveport Regional Airport (SHV) welcomed 715,533 passengers in 2024—a 14% increase over 2023. This significant growth, representing 87,795 more travelers than the previous year, was driven in part by airlines introducing larger aircraft to serve the airport’s eight non-stop destinations. Passenger totals for 2024 were also 5% higher than pre-pandemic levels in 2019, marking the highest count since 2000.
“We are so thankful for each passenger who chose to fly through Shreveport last year,” said Larry Blackwell, Director of Airports for the Shreveport Airport Authority. “We want every traveler to have a great experience at our airport, which is why we are continuing with exciting upgrades this year. These include new restaurant options, brand-new seating with power outlets in all public areas, expanded gate areas for greater comfort, and additional parking spaces.”
Expanded Airline Services
Shreveport Regional Airport’s growth in 2024 was fueled by increased airline capacity and new flight routes:
- Allegiant Airlines announced non-stop service to Nashville beginning May 22, adding to its roster of destinations. Seasonal non-stop routes to Destin (starting May 23) and Orlando-Sanford (starting May 29) are also returning, while year-round non-stop flights to Las Vegas remain a favorite among travelers. Tickets for all routes are available at Allegiant.com.
- American Airlines introduced a third daily flight to Charlotte and added a sixth daily departure to Dallas.
- Delta Air Lines increased service to Atlanta with a fifth daily departure.
- United Airlines upgraded its daily non-stop Denver route to a 76-seat aircraft featuring First Class seating and added a fifth daily departure to Houston, with a sixth departure scheduled to begin in April 2025.
Enhancing the Passenger Experience
To meet rising demand and provide an improved travel experience, Shreveport Regional Airport is investing in significant infrastructure and amenity upgrades in 2025. Expanded gate areas, enhanced seating with integrated power outlets, and additional parking spaces are part of these enhancements, ensuring passenger comfort and convenience.
With strong airline partnerships and continued service expansion, Shreveport Regional Airport is positioned for another remarkable year in 2025.
