SHREVEPORT, La. — Holy Angels held its 45th annual TASTE: A Festival of Food and Art on Thursday at the Shreveport Convention Center, bringing area restaurants, artists and supporters together to raise funds for services for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
The event featured food from 40 area restaurants and vendors, including Bossier City businesses Chicken Salad Chick, Nothing Bundt Cakes and Chocolate Crocodile. Guests also sampled Holy Angels’ lasagna and other catering offerings, along with ice cream from Howdy Homemade.
Residents performed during the evening, including members of the Holy Angels Choir and talent show winners. A silent auction offered more than 200 items donated through AngelWorks and community supporters, among them artwork made by residents.
First held in 1981, TASTE has grown into an annual event that draws more than 1,500 guests, according to Holy Angels. Proceeds support the organization’s residential care, education, therapy, day programs and employment services.
Holy Angels provides around-the-clock supportive care and individualized service plans for 185 residents. Its Holy Angels Academy also serves children ages 2 through 21.
