Louisiana – Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana has unveiled its annual Community Partnerships Report, showcasing the substantial charitable contributions made by its employees, Foundation, and numerous nonprofit partners throughout the state.
The report outlines several key achievements:
45,000+ Volunteer Hours: Blue Cross’ 3,000 employees dedicated over 45,000 hours to community service initiatives, providing hands-on and pro bono assistance to various nonprofits.
$4.2 Million in Donations and Sponsorships: Both Blue Cross and its employees collectively contributed over $4.2 million to support hundreds of nonprofits. These organizations delivered more than 17 million essential services, including health screenings, checkups, and meals, benefiting Louisianians statewide.
$4 Million in Public Health Grants: The Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana Foundation allocated over $4 million in grant funding to local nonprofits focused on enhancing public health outcomes.
For the fifth consecutive year, Blue Cross was recognized as one of the Civic 50, a prestigious list of the most community-minded companies in the United States, as designated by the Points of Light Foundation. Notably, Blue Cross stood out as the “2023 Volunteer Leader” due to its employees’ remarkable commitment, boasting the highest average number of volunteer hours among all companies nationwide.
Michael Tipton, President of the Blue Cross Foundation and head of the company’s Community Relations department, expressed gratitude for the collective efforts driving positive change in Louisiana. “Our people are deeply committed to improving the health and well-being of our state. None of this impact would be possible without our nonprofit partners, who work tirelessly to address pressing needs within our communities,” Tipton remarked.
