SHREVEPORT, La. — The City of Shreveport and the Port of Caddo-Bossier have reopened Fire Station 20 following facility improvements and the addition of new equipment and resources intended to strengthen emergency response in South Shreveport and the Port area.
The station, located at 804 E. Flournoy Lucas Road, reopened during a ribbon-cutting ceremony. The Port of Caddo-Bossier provided funding and resources for the improvements.
The upgraded station is expected to expand the Shreveport Fire Department’s presence in the area and improve response to fires, medical emergencies and other calls for service.
“Reopening Fire Station 20 strengthens our ability to protect the people, businesses and industries in this important part of Shreveport,” Mayor Tom Arceneaux said. “We are grateful to the Port of Caddo-Bossier for investing in this facility and working alongside the City to provide our firefighters with the equipment and resources they need to serve the community safely and effectively.”
Fire Station 20 was originally dedicated in February 1999 through a partnership involving the city, the Red River Waterway Commission and the Port of Caddo-Bossier.
“The Port of Caddo-Bossier shares a proud, foundational history with the City of Shreveport and Fire Station 20,” Port President Josh Williams said. “Originally dedicated in February 1999 through a vital partnership between the City, the Red River Waterway Commission and the Port, this station stands as a testament to what collaborative leadership can achieve.”
Williams said the modernized station will provide Class 1 fire protection to Port tenants and residents of Southeast Shreveport.
The Port of Caddo-Bossier is an industrial and transportation complex along the Red River serving manufacturing, logistics and other businesses in the Shreveport-Bossier City area.
