SHREVEPORT, La. — The Housing Authority of the City of Shreveport on May 11 recognized graduates of its Family Self-Sufficiency Program and YouthBuild Program during ceremonies highlighting resident achievement in education, workforce development and financial independence.
Participants in the federally supported Family Self-Sufficiency program completed training focused on employment, education, financial literacy and long-term economic stability. Graduates collectively earned more than $30,000 in escrow savings tied to increased earnings and completion of program goals, the housing authority said.
The YouthBuild program honored young adults who completed coursework and training in educational support, leadership development, workforce readiness and career preparation. The program is designed to help participants pursue additional education and employment opportunities.
Family members, community partners, housing authority staff and local officials attended the ceremonies recognizing graduates for completing the programs.
“We are incredibly proud of our graduates and everything they have accomplished,” said Bobby R. Collins, chief executive officer of the Housing Authority of the City of Shreveport. “These programs are designed to create opportunities and pathways toward brighter futures, and today’s graduates are a reflection of what can be achieved through determination, support, and hard work.”
The housing authority said it will continue offering programs and services aimed at supporting families, expanding economic opportunity and improving quality of life in the Shreveport community.
