SHREVEPORT, La. – Gas prices in the Shreveport area are back on the rise, increasing 6.3 cents per gallon in the past week to an average of $2.65/g, according to GasBuddy’s weekly survey of 177 stations. This uptick comes as the region transitions to summer gasoline blends, contributing to a broader national trend.
Despite the recent jump, local prices remain nearly 40 cents per gallon lower than this time last year. Compared to a month ago, Shreveport drivers are paying about 6.4 cents more per gallon. Across the state, the cheapest gas was found at $2.39/g, while the highest reached $3.34/g, marking a 95-cent spread.
The national average price of gasoline also rose by 6.3 cents this week, now sitting at $3.08/g, according to GasBuddy data collected from over 11 million weekly price reports. While the diesel average dipped slightly by 0.9 cents to $3.549/g, gasoline prices are 1.6 cents lower than a month ago and 42.5 cents cheaper than a year ago.

Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy, emphasized that this increase stems from seasonal factors rather than policy or geopolitical events.
“This increase has nothing to do with politics or tariffs… but is instead the result of seasonality,” De Haan said. “For areas that have already completed the switch [to summer fuel], ongoing economic uncertainty will likely prevent further major increases— for now.”
As the switch to summer-blend fuel continues and demand remains soft due to economic concerns, prices are expected to fluctuate but stay relatively restrained in the near term.
