BENTON, La. — The Bossier Parish Police Jury highlighted upcoming events focused on emergency preparedness and proposed Amazon data center developments during its regular meeting.
A Bossier Parish Disability Disaster Preparedness Workshop is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Bossier Central Library Complex, 7204 Hutchison Drive in Bossier City.
The workshop is intended for people with disabilities, caregivers, family members, service providers and emergency management partners. Topics will include personal preparedness planning, weather alerts and emergency notifications, sheltering options, pet preparedness, disability-specific emergency planning and resources available in Bossier Parish.
Participants also will be able to meet with organizations and agencies that provide support services and disaster-related assistance.
The Police Jury also announced an Amazon open house scheduled for Tuesday at the Shreveport Convention Center. The event will provide information about the company’s proposed data center developments in Bossier and Caddo parishes.
Project representatives are expected to answer questions and provide information about the planned facilities and their potential economic impact on Northwest Louisiana.
The Police Jury said the proposed developments are expected to bring investment and long-term economic activity to the region.
