SHREVEPORT, La. — The 50th edition of the Radiance Technologies Independence Bowl will be played Dec. 22 with a primetime kickoff on ESPN, bowl officials announced.
The game is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. CST at Independence Stadium and will mark the bowl’s 50th anniversary. It will be the third primetime kickoff for the game in the past four years and the first pre-Christmas Independence Bowl since 2023.
Keith Burton, chairman of the Independence Bowl Foundation, said the anniversary game represents a significant milestone for one of the region’s longest-running sporting events.
“This year’s game carries special significance as we celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Independence Bowl, a proud milestone for one of our community’s most enduring traditions,” Burton said.
According to bowl officials, the event continues to generate economic activity for the Shreveport-Bossier area. Based on the past three games, the bowl has averaged $7.3 million in direct and indirect spending and approximately $23.4 million in total economic impact annually.
Attendance has also remained strong, with paid attendance exceeding 30,000 for each of the past three games. The bowl reported an average paid attendance of 32,551 during that period.
Ticket renewal notices have been mailed to previous ticket purchasers, with a renewal deadline of July 31 for fans wishing to retain their seat locations. Public ticket sales are scheduled to begin Aug. 1. Individual tickets will start at $20.
