RUSTON, La. — Louisiana Tech University President Jim Henderson announced Friday that he intends to retire at the end of 2026, opening a leadership transition at the Ruston university.
In a message shared on Louisiana Tech’s Instagram account, Henderson said he had informed the campus community of his decision. He called serving as the university’s 15th president “the joy of my career” and thanked faculty, staff, students and the Ruston community for the welcome he and his wife, Tonia, received.
Henderson became Louisiana Tech’s president on Jan. 1, 2024, after serving as president and CEO of the University of Louisiana System. latech.edu
He said there would be opportunities for conversations and goodbyes in the coming weeks. His message did not identify a successor or give a departure date more specific than the end of the calendar year.
