BATON ROUGE, La. — More than 52,000 Louisiana homes and businesses gained access to broadband during the second half of 2025, according to ConnectLA’s account of the latest Federal Communications Commission broadband availability data.
The increase represents 3.16% growth in the number of locations served, compared with a national average of 0.9% over the same period. ConnectLA said Louisiana ranked fourth among states by percentage growth. The FCC data reflects availability as of December 2025.
The state cited Dixie Inn resident Lance Milligan as one example of the expansion’s effect. ConnectLA said Milligan replaced two fixed wireless connections with a single gigabit fiber connection made available through the state’s GUMBO 1.0 program, reducing his monthly cost.
Expanded broadband availability can give households and businesses more options for work, education, health care and online services. The availability figures show where service is offered; they do not indicate how many households or businesses subscribed to a new connection.
ConnectLA, the Louisiana Office of Broadband Development and Connectivity, coordinates the state’s efforts to expand high-speed internet access.
