The Shreveport Regional Arts Council (SRAC), Visit Shreveport-Bossier, and the Caddo Parish Commission will unveil the first in a series of 10 artist-designed gateway signs along Northwest Louisiana’s 163-mile Boom or Bust Byway on Saturday, June 14, 2025. The unveiling will take place at 10 a.m. during the Sunflower Trail & Festival in Gilliam.
The new gateway signs are laser-cut metal sculptures created by local artists to represent the culture, scenery, and history of towns throughout Caddo, Bossier, Webster, and Claiborne Parishes. The project aims to enhance the visual identity of the Boom or Bust Byway while celebrating the distinctiveness of each community it connects.
The first installation will be revealed at Linda Lay Church, located at 12797 Sentell Road in Gilliam. The remaining signs are expected to be installed along the byway by the end of June.
Representatives from SRAC, Visit Shreveport-Bossier, the Caddo Parish Commission, and the Town of Gilliam will be present at the unveiling, with opportunities for interviews and additional information about the project.
The Boom or Bust Byway is designated as a National Scenic Byway and features a mix of rural charm, historic landmarks, and natural beauty across Northwest Louisiana. For more details, visit boomorbustbyway.com.
