SHREVEPORT, La. The Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office Tax Department has introduced new technology and customer service tools aimed at improving how residents receive and pay their annual property tax bills.
Department officials said a new mail-processing machine now scans envelopes, checks and all enclosed documents, allowing staff to open and process payments within hours rather than days. The office said the upgrade is intended to shorten turnaround times during the peak tax season.
The Tax Department is also adding self-service kiosks. The machines will allow customers who arrive without their bills to retrieve account numbers and print a single ticket covering multiple accounts or redemption inquiries. Staff will also be able to identify customers with physical limitations and direct them to an ADA-compliant service area.
In addition, the office will begin offering electronic notifications for annual tax notices. Residents can opt to receive an email alert when their notices are available, while still receiving paper copies by mail.
A new mobile app built for the Tax Department will enable users to pay property taxes, request redemption amounts, sign up for electronic notifications and confirm whether their mortgage company plans to pay the taxes on their behalf.
Property tax statements remain available at CaddoSheriff.org. Payments can be mailed to the Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office, P.O. Box 20905, Shreveport, LA 71120; made in person at 501 Texas Street, Room 101, Shreveport; or submitted online or by phone at 833-538-8539.
The Sheriff’s Office will also collect payments at Safety Town and the North Substation on two designated Saturdays in December.
