BOSSIER CITY, La. — Bossier Parish Community College and Amazon Career Choice recognized nine Amazon employees who completed BPCC’s Industrial Technician Career and Technical Certificate program while working full time, earning multiple industry credentials aligned with industrial and manufacturing operations.
The graduates were recognized April 29 after completing coursework focused on automation, electrical systems, mechanical systems and fluid power technologies. The program was delivered through Amazon Career Choice, an employer-supported education initiative designed to help workers gain in-demand technical skills.
The following employees completed the program: Domanasha Hill, Abecee Smith, Kestiny Hopkins, Thomas Blacklock, Justin Marshall, Thomas Hutchins, Camden Raymond, Kitty Montiel and Angie Magee.
In addition to earning the Industrial Technician CTC, participants received an Electronics I certification through YouScience and certifications from the National Coalition of Certification Centers in fundamentals of fluid power pneumatics, mechanical systems, electricity AC and DC, and multimeter usage.
Instruction was led by BPCC Master Instructor Mark Harner and Instructor Dan Hershberger. The curriculum focused on hands-on technical training intended to reflect industrial workplace conditions and employer requirements.
“These students demonstrated exceptional commitment and perseverance,” Harner said. “Balancing a demanding, full-time role on the job while mastering complex electrical, mechanical, and fluid power systems is no small feat.”
Hershberger said the coursework was designed to mirror technologies students encounter in the workplace and provide job-ready technical skills.
The partnership between BPCC and Amazon Career Choice is part of a broader workforce development effort aimed at expanding technical education opportunities and supporting employee advancement in the region.
