BOSSIER CITY, La. — Bossier City has been named Louisiana’s safest midsize city in SmartAsset’s 2026 study of U.S. cities with populations between 65,000 and 250,000.
The study ranked Bossier City No. 298 nationally. SmartAsset evaluated more than 300 cities using violent crime, property crime, traffic fatality rates and natural disaster risk.
City leaders credited the recognition to proactive policing, community engagement and cooperation between law enforcement and residents.
Bossier City Chief of Police Daniel Haugen said the recognition reflects the work of the department and support from the community.
“This recognition is a testament to the hard work, commitment, and teamwork demonstrated by our officers and staff every day,” Haugen said. “We remain focused on maintaining a safe environment for everyone who lives, works, and visits our city.”
Bossier City officials said public safety remains a priority as the city works to improve quality of life and strengthen trust within the community.
