SHREVEPORT, La. — Average gasoline prices in Shreveport increased 18.2 cents per gallon over the past week to $3.66, according to a GasBuddy survey of 177 stations in the city.
The average price is 37 cents higher than a month ago and nearly $1 higher than the same period a year ago. The national average gasoline price rose 10.8 cents over the past week to $4.06 per gallon, while the national average diesel price increased 17.8 cents to $5.255 per gallon.
GasBuddy reported the lowest-priced station in Shreveport at $3.41 per gallon and the highest at $3.89, a spread of 48 cents. Across Louisiana, prices ranged from $3.31 to $4.99 per gallon.
Among neighboring markets, average gasoline prices reached $3.76 per gallon in Little Rock, up 16 cents from the previous week. Dallas averaged $3.68 per gallon, an increase of 10 cents, while the Louisiana statewide average rose 11.8 cents to $3.67 per gallon.
Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy, said gasoline and diesel prices increased in nearly every state during the past week as geopolitical tensions involving the United States, Iran, Houthi attacks in the Red Sea and Ukrainian strikes on Russian oil refineries continued to support higher crude oil and refined fuel prices.
“However, a weekend pullback in hostilities offered some relief, with oil prices opening sharply lower Sunday, suggesting the pace of increases at the pump may moderate in the days ahead,” De Haan said. “For now, motorists should expect prices to remain elevated, but the intensity of further gains will depend heavily on how the geopolitical situation develops in the coming week.”
Historical data from GasBuddy showed Shreveport’s average gasoline price was $2.66 per gallon one year ago, $2.84 two years ago, $3.28 three years ago, $3.76 four years ago and $2.79 five years ago.
