BENTON, La. — The Bossier Parish Police Jury recognized two organizations for their contributions to the community, honoring Open Road Fellowship Church for its volunteer support during the KTBS Freedom Fest and Willis-Knighton Bossier Health System for 30 years of service in Bossier Parish.
Police Jury President Tom Salzer presented a resolution to Pastor Raymond Wilkinson of Open Road Fellowship Church, recognizing the congregation’s volunteer efforts during the KTBS Freedom Fest held July 4 at South Bossier Park.
The church was recognized for providing volunteers throughout the event, performing live music through its praise band, distributing bottled water and operating hydration stations, supervising inflatable attractions for children’s safety, and assisting with traffic control and parking.
The Police Jury thanked Wilkinson and the congregation for their continued commitment to community service. Despite weather concerns ahead of the event, the celebration proceeded with strong attendance and community participation.
Separately, Police Jury Vice President Julianna Parks presented a resolution to the staff of Willis-Knighton Bossier Health System in recognition of the hospital’s 30 years of service to Bossier Parish residents.
Willis-Knighton Bossier, which opened in 1996, marked its 30th anniversary on July 15. The resolution cited the hospital’s role in expanding access to healthcare in North Bossier, including investments in advanced medical technology, surgical care and diagnostic services, as well as operating Bossier Parish’s only 24-hour emergency room.
“Willis-Knighton Bossier has played a vital role in the health, safety, and growth of our parish,” Parks said. “Their ongoing commitment to patient care, innovation, and community partnership continues to make a lasting impact.”
The resolution also recognized the hospital’s support for military families at Barksdale Air Force Base, employment opportunities for military spouses and retirees, participation in community initiatives including Keep Bossier Beautiful, the i3 Art Expo and New Teacher Bags, the provision of certified athletic trainers for several local high schools, and expanded access to care through WK Quick Care clinics and its physician network.
The resolution designated July 15 as Willis-Knighton Bossier Day in honor of the hospital’s administration, physicians, nurses and staff and their three decades of service to the parish.
