SHREVEPORT, La. – Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center is pleased to announce Yalonda Mitchell as its new regional director of philanthropy for Central and North Louisiana.
Mitchell, who holds an MBA from Southern New Hampshire University and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Louisiana at Monroe, comes to Mary Bird Perkins with a wealth of experience in community engagement and marketing. Working out of Shreveport, she previously served as an anchor reporter and host at KSLA-12 News and director of marketing for LifeShare Blood Center.
In her role as regional director of philanthropy, Mitchell will lead philanthropic initiatives and enhance the Cancer Center’s community presence in the region, focusing on relationship building with individuals, businesses and community groups. Mary Bird Perkins is a nonprofit organization, and fundraising is crucial in helping support its lifesaving supportive services and community initiatives.
She will initially concentrate her outreach efforts in Alexandria, Natchitoches and Shreveport, with plans to expand throughout the region.
