SHREVEPORT, La. — The Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office will begin operations of a new Domestic Violence Unit on April 13, aimed at providing immediate support and protection for victims across Caddo Parish.
The unit will initially operate out of the agency’s Criminal Investigation Division office at 1501 Corporate Drive in Shreveport. The site will serve as a central location for crisis intervention, safety planning, legal assistance, advocacy and coordinated support services for individuals experiencing domestic and gender-based violence.
Sheriff Henry Whitehorn Sr. said the creation of the unit is intended to expand access to timely and coordinated care for victims.
“The establishment of this unit reflects our commitment to protecting some of the most vulnerable members of our community. Domestic violence is a serious and deeply personal issue, and victims deserve immediate access to compassionate, coordinated, and professional support. This unit will ensure that help is available the moment it is needed,” Whitehorn said.
The Domestic Violence Unit will collaborate with community organizations, legal service providers and regional law enforcement agencies to deliver comprehensive, trauma-informed services.
Officials said the unit is expected to expand over time, with plans to move into a permanent facility as part of a broader effort to establish a Family Justice Center in Caddo Parish.
