BOSSIER CITY, La. — The Bossier Chamber of Commerce hosted its annual Women’s Leadership Conference on March 31, drawing regional professionals for a half-day event centered on career development, networking and mentorship.
The conference, held for the second consecutive year during Women’s History Month, featured the theme “Be BOLD,” aimed at encouraging women to take a more active role in their professional and personal advancement. The event was presented by CHRISTUS Health and Live! Casino & Hotel.
Organizers said the conference is part of the chamber’s broader effort to support workforce development and professional connections within the local business community.
“As women professionals, it’s important that we uplift each other,” said Lisa Johnson, president and chief executive officer of the Bossier Chamber of Commerce. “The power to succeed professionally and personally is within each of us, and sometimes, the best way to help out a friend or colleague is to remind her of that.”
The program included keynote presentations from Melvina A. Smith, a retired U.S. Air Force chief master sergeant and founder of The Mel Perspective LLC, and entrepreneur and wellness mentor Courtney Kunau-Davis. Both speakers focused on leadership development, resilience and personal growth.
Additional programming included breakout sessions on health, leadership presence and professional influence, as well as small-group discussions led by regional business and healthcare professionals. Topics included wellness, financial planning and mental health.
The event also incorporated networking opportunities, vendor exhibits and interactive activities designed to foster professional connections among attendees.
The conference was supported by a range of regional sponsors, including healthcare providers, financial institutions and utilities, reflecting cross-sector interest in workforce engagement and leadership development initiatives.
