BATON ROUGE, La. — Governor Jeff Landry said state and federal agencies are coordinating relief efforts to help Louisiana families and small businesses recover from last week’s severe winter storm.
“Louisiana families and small businesses were hit hard during this winter weather,” Landry said. “We have been working side by side with President Trump, Secretary Rollins, Administrator Loeffler, SBA Regional Administrator Justin Crossie, and our Louisiana delegation to ensure help gets to the people who need it most here in Louisiana.”
The U.S. Small Business Administration has opened disaster loan applications for small businesses affected by the storm. Eligible businesses can apply at lending.sba.gov through November 2. The declaration covers 19 parishes in northeast Louisiana, from West Carroll Parish south to Concordia Parish and west to Bossier and Caddo parishes.
In addition, Louisiana Department of Children and Family Services will provide additional Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits for households in the hardest-hit parishes. Recipients in Caldwell, DeSoto, East Carroll, Jackson, Ouachita, Red River, Richland, and West Carroll parishes will automatically receive an additional 20 percent of their January benefits. The increase will reach about 51,500 people and will be loaded onto recipients’ EBT cards by February 11.
