SHREVEPORT, La. — The Greater Shreveport Chamber recognized business leadership, community service, and regional impact during its 116th Annual Banquet, presented by Willis Knighton Health, held Jan. 21 at Sam’s Town Hotel & Casino.
The event marked a leadership transition for the Chamber, as Scott Ward was installed as 2026 Chairman of the Board, succeeding Tom Simms, who was honored for his service as Immediate Past Chair following a year guiding the Chamber’s initiatives.
“It is truly an honor to follow in the footsteps of the great leaders who have served as the Chairman of the Chamber Board,” Ward said. “The Greater Shreveport Chamber’s impact is measured not just by the programs we lead, but by the partnerships we build and the progress we help create for businesses and families across our region.”
The Chamber named Steve Roop its 2025 Business Leader of the Year, recognizing his career in financial services, executive leadership, and decades of civic involvement across the Shreveport-Bossier community. Roop was selected by the Chamber’s Senior Council for his professional accomplishments and sustained contributions to regional economic growth and civic engagement.
“Steve Roop represents the very best business leadership in our community,” said Dr. Timothy Magner, President of the Greater Shreveport Chamber. “His career reflects integrity, strategic vision, and a deep dedication to service that has left a lasting impact on our region.”
The Chamber also introduced the Greater Shreveport Impact Award, presented for the first time to Air Force Global Strike Command (AFGSC) for its enduring influence on the community and its central role in national defense.
Based at Barksdale Air Force Base, AFGSC oversees the nation’s bomber fleet and intercontinental ballistic missile mission, serving as a foundation of U.S. strategic deterrence. Beyond defense operations, the command is a major economic contributor and community partner in Northwest Louisiana.
“The Greater Shreveport Impact Award celebrates those whose role in our community fosters unity and service,” Magner said. “Air Force Global Strike Command’s leadership, investment, and partnership have strengthened our economy, supported workforce development, and reinforced Shreveport-Bossier’s role in our nation’s security.”
