SHREVEPORT, La. — The Greater Shreveport Chamber has named Amazon the recipient of the 2025 J. Pat Beaird Industry of the Year Award, recognizing the company’s rapid growth and community engagement since opening operations in northwest Louisiana.
The award was presented Thursday at the Chamber’s annual luncheon, sponsored by Regions Bank and supported by the J. Pat Beaird Memorial Fund. The honor is given each year to a business demonstrating significant contributions in expansion, job creation and community involvement.
“Amazon has become a major driver of local employment and economic growth, while also investing in partnerships and programs that enrich our community,” said Dr. Tim Magner, president of the Greater Shreveport Chamber.
Amazon launched its SHV1 Fulfillment Center in August 2024. The five-story, 2.5 million-square-foot facility employs more than 1,500 people and is described by the company as its most technologically advanced fulfillment site worldwide. A last-mile delivery station opened later that year, further boosting local employment and delivery capacity.
The company has also partnered with groups including Caddo Parish Schools and the Every Warrior Network, while offering education and training support for employees through its Career Choice program.
Jessica Breaux, senior manager of economic development at Amazon, said the company is focused on strengthening both the workforce and the community.
The luncheon also featured a keynote address from retired Col. Mark W. Tillman, former commander and pilot of Air Force One. Tillman, who flew President George W. Bush on Sept. 11, 2001, spoke about leadership, accountability and high-stakes decision-making.
