(The Center Square) — The June financials for Bossier City showed the city brought in over $29.2 million in fund revenue compared to $27.1 million in June last year. The city’s year-to-date fund revenue is $176.2 million so far.
According to the report, the increase in revenue is due to consolidated sales tax, public service and sanitation, emergency medical services, civic center, riverboat capital and other funds collecting more than last year.
Bossier’s year-to-date sales tax collections were $33.4 million compared to the $27.5 million budgeted. General fund sales tax revenue was $17.5 million versus $14.9 million budgeted.
When it comes to the expenses, the city is not far from what it spent last June, and actual year-to-date spending is less than the city budgeted for.
Expenses totaled $10.3 million in June compared to $9.7 million last year — around a $664,000 difference. For year-to-date actual versus budget, the city has spent $66.1 million, which is less than the original $70.8 million budgeted.
The sales and use tax report showed a $187,090 increase in monthly collections compared to last year, with the city collecting $5.5 million in June and $5.3 million in 2024
Year-to-date collections have also increased by a little over $1 million.
In June, the city collected $71,877 in audit collections and $193,593 in compliance collections.
For employee numbers, the city budgeted for 708 across all departments and had 680 personnel for June, with the highest reported for the police and fire departments. The city budgets for 213 in the police department and reported 209, nearing fully staffed numbers. This is the same for the fire department, with the city having 199, approaching the 207 budgeted amount.
The Bossier City Council will discuss the year-to-date financials during Tuesday’s city council meeting.
