SHREVEPORT, La. — Average gasoline prices in the Shreveport area have dropped slightly over the past week, falling 1.2 cents per gallon to an average of $2.66 per gallon, according to GasBuddy’s weekly survey of 177 local stations. Prices are 3.3 cents lower than a month ago and 17.1 cents lower than a year ago, offering relief to area motorists as summer nears its end.
Shreveport’s lowest reported gas price on Sunday was $2.39/g, while the highest reached $3.19/g, marking an 80-cent swing across the metro area. Statewide, Louisiana’s prices ranged from $2.37/g to $3.59/g, a difference of $1.22 per gallon.
Diesel prices tell a different story. The national average for diesel rose 1.6 cents over the past week to $3.709/g, according to GasBuddy data compiled from over 150,000 gas stations.
The national average price of gasoline increased slightly—0.9 cents per gallon—bringing it to $3.10/g, though prices are still 6.5 cents lower than a month ago and 37.5 cents below the same time last year.

“It’s been another relatively quiet week for average gas prices, with most states seeing modest or slight declines,” said Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy. “With gasoline demand starting to ease and oil prices holding in the upper $60s, we could see prices gradually decline as we approach Labor Day. However, hurricane activity could shift that outlook.”
