SHREVEPORT, La. – The eerie world of Irish folklore and psychological suspense is coming home to northwest Louisiana as The Twin, a locally made horror feature, prepares for its red-carpet premiere at the historic Strand Theatre in downtown Shreveport on Wednesday, July 10.
Directed by Shreveport native J.C. Doler, The Twin was shot entirely in Louisiana with a team of regional filmmakers and talent. The film first began as a short titled Hangman, which was a Top 20 finalist at the 2016 Louisiana Film Prize. After nearly a decade of development and recognition on the film festival circuit, including an Audience Award for Best Dark Matters Feature at the 2024 Austin Film Festival, the project has returned to its roots for a hometown celebration.
Starring Logan Donovan (Colony, Magnum P.I.), Robert Longstreet (Midnight Mass, The Haunting of Hill House), and Aleksa Palladino (Boardwalk Empire, The Penguin), The Twin tells the story of Nicholas, a grieving father haunted by a ghostly figure that shares his appearance. As the line between reality and nightmare blurs, Nicholas must confront buried trauma and the supernatural force pulling him deeper into darkness.
The screenplay was co-written by Doler and Paul Petersen, based on a story developed with Taylor Bracewell and Chris Alan Evans. The script received early acclaim, winning Best Screenplay at the 2021 Screamfest Horror Film Festival.
Behind the camera, The Twin showcases a wealth of Louisiana-based talent. Producers include Donovan, Doler, Petersen, Evans, Alexander Jeffery, and Brittany Fallow. Cinematography was led by Joel Froome, with production design by Reece Roark, costume design by Taylor Bracewell, casting by Steven Tylor O’Connor, and original music by Zviad Mgebry.
The premiere event will include a red carpet experience, screening, and Q&A with members of the cast and crew. Attendees are encouraged to wear formal or red carpet attire and are welcome to walk the carpet alongside the filmmakers.
Tickets are $30 and are available now through the Strand Theatre box office.
