BATON ROUGE, La. – Nominations are now open for the Everyday Hero Awards, which honor individuals and organizations across Louisiana who go the extra mile to clean up and beautify their communities. Winners will be recognized during a luncheon on Wednesday, September 24 at the Crowne Plaza Executive Center in Baton Rouge, held in conjunction with the annual Keep Louisiana Beautiful (KLB) State Conference.
Eligible nominees include nonprofits, KLB Affiliate organizations, businesses, professional groups, government agencies, civic and community groups, schools, churches, and individuals.
“So many people and organizations around Louisiana are stepping up and doing outstanding work to help clean up our state,” said Lt. Governor Billy Nungesser. “We need to continue the momentum from Love the Boot Week and recognize those who are making a difference year-round. The Everyday Hero Award is a great way to honor those dedicated to keeping our communities litter-free and beautiful.”
Anyone may submit a nomination, and individuals may submit more than one. The nomination deadline is Sunday, July 27, 2025, and forms can be found on the Everyday Hero Award page at KeepLouisianaBeautiful.org.
Award Categories:
Community Improvement Award – Recognizes a project or initiative that aligns with KLB’s mission and has led to measurable community improvement. Open to for-profit and nonprofit organizations, Affiliates, schools, and civic groups.
Let Louisiana Shine Volunteer Award – Honors a passionate volunteer who dedicates time and energy to litter prevention, beautification, and improving community quality of life.
Leaders Against Litter Award – Recognizes a public servant who goes above and beyond to promote KLB’s mission. Eligible individuals include public sector workers such as police officers, firefighters, educators, and elected officials.
Rocksey’s Young Leadership Award (Grades K-12) – Named after KLB’s mascot, this award is presented to a student or student group who demonstrates environmental leadership and stewardship.
Collegiate Environmental Steward Award – Recognizes a college student or group who actively promotes sustainability and beautification on their campus.
Outstanding Community Affiliate Award – Honors a certified KLB Community Affiliate that has significantly improved its community through collaborative and impactful programs.
Outstanding University Affiliate Award – Presented to a certified University Affiliate that has shown leadership and created a culture of sustainability and litter prevention on campus.
Clean Biz Leadership Award – Awarded to an organization that supports a cleaner, greener community through operational policies and community engagement. Open to both for-profit and nonprofit organizations.
Litter Enforcement Award – Recognizes a law enforcement officer who works actively to combat litter through enforcement and public education. Eligible individuals include police, LDWF agents, judges, and code enforcement officers.
Keep Louisiana Beautiful operates under the Office of the Lieutenant Governor and the Department of Culture, Recreation & Tourism, promoting personal, corporate, and community responsibility for a clean and beautiful state. KLB supports local communities through education, enforcement, litter removal, beautification, and sustainability programs and is a state affiliate of Keep America Beautiful.
