BATON ROUGE, LA — The Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality (LDEQ) has unveiled a groundbreaking digital inspection application aimed at modernizing and streamlining field operations within the agency’s Remediation Division.
The newly launched Remediation Field Application eliminates the need for paper-based inspection forms, fully digitizing the inspection process to improve efficiency, data accuracy, and long-term accessibility. The app integrates directly with LDEQ’s TEMPO database and Electronic Document Management System (EDMS), allowing field inspectors to input data, generate reports, and upload documentation in real time.
“The implementation of the Remediation Field Application marks a significant step forward in the advancement of our operations as an agency,” said LDEQ Secretary Courtney J. Burdette. “This sophisticated apparatus allows us to not only streamline the inspection process but also support our agencywide mission to enhance efficiency, transparency and environmental stewardship.”
Key Features of the Remediation Field Application:
- TEMPO Integration: Pulls real-time facility information, such as GPS coordinates and contact details, to auto-fill Field Inspection Forms (FIFs).
- Photo Documentation: Captures and logs photos directly in the app, with the ability to annotate images for added context.
- Standardized Data Entry: Uses pre-populated tables for monitoring well and site conditions, ensuring uniformity across reports.
- Site Mapping and Diagrams: Allows inspectors to generate and attach site maps using Google aerial imagery.
- Document Attachments: Supports additional uploads for supplemental site details.
- Digital Signatures: Enables on-site electronic signatures from both inspectors and facility representatives.
- Seamless Syncing: Completed inspection data automatically uploads to LDEQ’s internal systems, reducing administrative overhead.
- Continuous Improvement: The application is actively updated based on inspector feedback to ensure ease of use and continued functionality.
The application has already begun transforming how the agency handles environmental site inspections, particularly as LDEQ navigates increasingly complex remediation cases across the state. Officials say the enhanced workflow will improve not just internal processes but also the speed and quality of environmental reporting.
