SHREVEPORT, La. – The Louisiana Film Prize is leveling up in a big way. Thanks to a new strategic partnership with the Fort Worth Film Commission, the 2025 Louisiana Film Prize Grand Prize Winner will now receive not only $50,000—the world’s largest cash award for a narrative short—but also a red carpet theatrical premiere in Fort Worth, Texas, qualifying the film for consideration at the 2026 Academy Awards®.
“This partnership represents a major leap forward,” said Gregory Kallenberg, founder of the Louisiana Film Prize and executive director of the Prize Foundation. “We’re not just celebrating independent film—we’re connecting filmmakers with real access to the industry’s biggest stage.”
Now in its 14th year, the Louisiana Film Prize has gained a national and international reputation as a launching pad for talented filmmakers. The addition of an Oscar-qualifying theatrical run in Fort Worth raises the stakes even higher.
The Fort Worth Film Commission’s Premiere Package was designed to support filmmakers aiming for Oscar® qualification—a process that can be complex, costly, and time-consuming. The package includes a week-long theatrical run, red carpet premiere, travel accommodations, and promotional support. This partnership makes the Louisiana Film Prize winner eligible for this exclusive experience, bringing their work one step closer to Oscar® gold.
A Win-Win for the South’s Creative Economy
“Fort Worth is proud to partner with a powerhouse like the Louisiana Film Prize,” said Taylor Hardy, Fort Worth Film Commissioner. “This collaboration not only expands opportunities for filmmakers, it also strengthens the creative connection between two culturally rich cities committed to championing storytelling.”
This partnership underscores both organizations’ shared vision of fostering regional talent, encouraging economic development through the arts, and helping the South emerge as a major player in the film world.
