LOGANSPORT, LA — State Representative Larry Bagley has officially announced his candidacy for the Louisiana Public Service Commission (PSC) District 5 seat in the upcoming Republican primary, scheduled for April 18, 2026. With nearly a decade of service representing House District 7—which includes parts of DeSoto, Sabine, and Caddo parishes—Bagley is positioning himself as a seasoned public servant ready to advocate for North Louisiana on a broader scale.

Public Service Commission District 5 spans 24 parishes across North Louisiana, from the northwest corner of the state to its northeastern edge. In announcing his campaign, Bagley emphasized his long-standing commitment to delivering tangible results, cutting through red tape, and ensuring North Louisiana receives its fair share of resources and infrastructure investments.
Among his notable achievements, Bagley secured $100 million in funding for the I-49 Inner-City Connector project in Shreveport—an infrastructure initiative designed to complete a key 3.6-mile stretch linking I-49 at I-20 to the I-49/I-220 interchange. The funding came as part of a 2019 legislative push to allocate Deepwater Horizon oil spill settlement funds to critical infrastructure needs.
“From infrastructure to rural hospitals to teacher pay raises, I’ve made it my mission to bring home results for Northwest Louisiana,” said Bagley. “And when disaster strikes, I’ve been on the ground—securing emergency power for nursing homes and working with utilities to restore services. People need someone they can count on, and I’ve always answered that call.”
Bagley also played a central role in managing local response efforts during five hurricanes and three major winter storm events, working directly with utilities and government agencies to accelerate recovery efforts for residents.
While he has announced his intent to run, Bagley made it clear that he will not actively campaign until the 2025 legislative session concludes on June 12. “Right now, my priority remains serving the people of District 7,” he said. “I want to finish this session strong before shifting my focus to the campaign.”
During his time in the Louisiana House of Representatives, Bagley has served on the Appropriations, Insurance, and Agriculture Committees, as well as the influential Joint Legislative Committee on the Budget. He also chaired the House Health and Welfare Committee during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, where he became known for his vocal stance on personal freedoms and local decision-making.
A retired public school educator and former Logansport City Councilman, Bagley brings decades of leadership and public service experience to his campaign.
“My approach is simple—serve the people, solve problems, and fight to keep North Louisiana in focus,” Bagley said. “That’s what I’ve done for nearly 10 years in Baton Rouge, and it’s exactly what I’ll do as your Public Service Commissioner.”
